Was watching the latest episode of October Road on the telly, and heard these two quotes which left quite an impression on me.
The first quote goes, "When you are young, you live like giants, then with each passing day you get smaller and smaller…"
Contrast it with the other one, "Youth is wasted on the young." (originally said by George Bernard Shaw)
Having gone past the 30 mark myself, and wondering how much youth I still have left, it somewhat makes me think back on my younger days. Have I lived like a giant? And was my youth a wasted one? Things to think about on this cold winter night.
Which brings me to a song I heard recently which I've fallen in love with. Hopeful and poignant at the same time, it reminds us to seize the moment and make the best of what we have. The chorus of the song sums up this point.
Don't wait for someone to tell you it's too late
Coz these are the best days
There's always something tomorrow
So I say let's make the best of tonight
Here comes the rest of our lives
